Originally written in 1885 by Captain George Thatcher Balch, a Union Army officer in the Civil War, the Pledge of Allegiance has undergone revisions several times over the years to what it today. The most recent alteration was made in 1954, when the words, "under God" were added.
In a patriotic mood, I added the words to a red and white striped star shape I created. It is on a blue background and framed in white with a red border.

Although I have no formal training in photography, I have always enjoyed taking pictures. Photography has been a hobby for over 30 years: from the simplicity of a tele-instamatic camera, to learning the intricacies of the more challenging 35mm. I remember as a child in elementary school standing every morning with my classmates with our right hands on our hearts reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. It was always followed by a patriotic song.
